Re: tuning question

TUning a coil means connecting the tank circuit at different spots to the
primary so it resonates with the frequency of the secondary circuit.
The simplest way is to start the tap at the full primary length( the tap is
the movable connection, the inner most or lowest turn is always connected),
run it, discharge caps, move tap one turn less, run it. If the coil increases
performance by moving the tap to lesser turns than keep going untill the
point where performance is best. If the best tap is the full primary it can
be a problem if you ever want a larger toroid, and you are never sure if it
is tuned best. When you find the best turn you can move the tap to different
parts to get very close to exact tuning. There are other ways involving
calculations and stuff like that, but it doesn't take very much time to tune
it the guess and check style.
