continuous wave, power is applied 100% of the time this is called class A
opperation. class B opperation power is applied 50%  of the time. Pulse or
class C opperation power is applied less than 50% . This what you get with a
spark gap. more efficiency with less wasted power. Tubes and solid state can
be opperated this way, but seldom are.
