Just a thought.
Bigger coils have inherently lower resonate frequencies. Therefore the
bottom end (primary tank) must become larger, that is, the tank cap and
primary winding values increase. A small coil may resonate at 400+Khz where
a 10nF tank cap may suffice. A larger coil resonating at 50Khz will require
a much higher cap value, like 80nF or better to retain the resonant
frequency.

With BPS remaining equal it will take more current to charge the larger cap.

On that note I've read that a lower resonant frequency is better than a high
one but I can't testify to that.
