I once took apart a big old photocopier and all I got out of it were two
7500v very low current DC supplies (a few mAs) and an AC transformer that
put out 6800V at 5mA. The pleochroic glass, the magnifying lenses, and small
vacuum cleaner (for sucking up loose ink granules) were more impressive and
useful than the HV supplies.
