Terry,

  Several years ago I made some poly plate caps. I made them from single 
.060" thick poly sheet. The plates were 11 x 8" and there are 48 of them in 
each cap. The capacitance is .026 uf. Everyone said that they would fail. 
They have been in service for 4 years. No failures. The break in time was 
only a 1 1/2 hours. 2300 v for 30 mins. and 7200 v for about 1 hours. Then I 
put them into service. They seen as much as 18 Kw. I believe they are 
practically bullet proof. The lids on the caps fit loosely. There is no 
explosion hazard. If I were you I'd build a plate cap.
