Terry, Toroids would mostly be for "fine tuning", something you probably 
would not need to deal with (high top C has the tenancy to stress the 
secondary). Looking at your photos, I would just replace the Brass bolt 
with the Tungsten point. Sounds like a very interesting project. Looking 
into Dave Sharpe's Staccato design? Jim Lux had a interesting suggestion... 
Perhaps you could also try Amplitude Modulation with a Audio source ;-)
