Paralleling Variacs

Original poster: "Matt Segal by way of Terry Fritz <twftesla-at-qwest-dot-net>" <segal3-at-linkline-dot-com>

I recently won an auction for (3) 6A variacs stacked together for 3phase
operation.
You can see them and their wiring here:

SAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1608821116&r=0&t=0&showTutorial=0&ed=993541420&indexU
RL=0&rd=1

Is it possible to change their wiring from 3phase to parallel, such that they
are rated for a total of 18A (for running an MOT or something of the sort for
powering a coil)?

Please let me know ASAP. Thanks!
