	Not quite sure what you mean by the first sentence.  The spool goes on
the floor, the wire comes up between your knees so you can apply a
little more or less controlled tension, and you guide the wire onto the
form with your fingers.  By the latter, I mean that when you get the
winding started you just put a finger against the coil to keep the wire
tight against the adjacent turns.
