A great source of magnet wire for winding secondaries is from the
degaussing coils found on color TV picture tubes.  One from some
of the larger tubes should yield enough wire for several smaller
secondaries.  The ones I've seen appeared to use wire in the 22
to 26 gauge range.  Check at your local TV repair shops and they
will likely give one or more to you.
