Hi Rick,
Thankyou for the kind compliment. It is of course dated now
since much has been learned in the interim. My original intention was
to produce a short piece detailing a simple route to a reliable
design for a high voltage capacitor that could be built in an hour or
so but when they saw the TC photos, they expressed no interest in the
capacitor asked me to do a piece on TCs instead. 5 months or so of
intensive research followed. I did not join a list until after
publication of the article so it pretty much reflected what I learnt
on my own. The tuning procedures were developed independently as I
put my nose to the grindstone. I viewed a Richard Quick video (lent
to me by a friend) shortly before publication, hence the references
which I could not, in all honesty, have omitted.
I was again asked to write a follow-up last year but having
been on the list six years or so, felt that the up-to-date knowledge
that is here couldn't be improved upon significantly and I just don't
have the time to drop everything else right now. That is not to
preclude one in the future. I do have personal ideas to advance the
current art of design, some of which have not yet seen the light of
day.

Regards,
Malcolm
