Hi Dan,

First we need the wire chart at:

http://hot-streamer-dot-com/TeslaCoils/Misc/WireGaugeChart.gif

# 26 enameled wire is 58 turns per inch. So a 26.5 inch tube needs:

26.5 x 58 = 1537 turns

to find out how long a turn is we use:

pi x 8.4375 = 26.51 inches

The total length is 1537 turns times 26.51 inches per turn or 40741 inches
which is 3395 feet.

Since magnet wire is sold by the pound, we use the chart to find that a
pound is about 1300 feet (enamel does not weight much). So 3395 feet
weighs 3395 / 1300 = 2.6 pounds of wire. I would probably get 3 pounds
just to be sure. Double check my math for mistakes but that should be your
answer.

Cheers,

         Terry
