If your close then can you go see the spool? The damage to look for is cut
wire but even if some is cut it would take one heck of an impact to affect
the wire all the way through. It also depends what impacted the wire. A
blunt object wouldn't leave much damage in the wire underneath but a sharp
object could very well cut strands quite a way through the spool.

If you can then personally check the wire, after all, 94 pounds of wire is
quite expensive and the cost of the trip would probably be a lot less than
the cost of the wire itself.
