This "feeling" u described is usually the result of raw power moving through 
the secondary wires...I bet your transformer is a fair size. ***Microwave 
Oven transformers do this often.
If your holding the secondary wires it is very possiable that the insulation 
will fail and a you will end up passing the current though you.
.....tingling feeling while holding a connected wire while the transformer 
is operational is VERY RISKY! You are lucky you recieved a tingle...you must 
have been insulated from ground. If you had not been insulated you would 
have passed the full current throught you...it also means your wire 
insulation is stressed and needs extra insulation!!!
