RE: Obits - How many are too many???

Hi Paul

I don't believe that obits have enough insulation to withstand the placing
of two in series for 12,000 volts. Since you have a chance to get many
obits, you should try two in series so that we will know once and for all if
the outfit will perform for long periods of time. There just might be a
chance of good performance if you isolated the obits with an extreme
isolation transformer. Perhaps you can use two obits for an isolation
transformer by running them back to back, i.e., 120 in first obit, 6000 in
second obit, then 120 out second obit. You can bank these isolation outfits
together for a big isolation farm. Then this would be the power supply for
your big obit farm. Tell him you have a research idea and will take all the
obits. One kVA is one kVA, no matter what supplies it. But with a pole pig,
you know that the insulation is very unlikely to break down.
