Hello Tobias,

Stay away from the gas pipe!  You are most likely best off with a ground
stake.  I don't know much about counterpoises myself, so I cant help you
there.  The only reason to ground the gas pipe is for safety, to provide a
path, in case lightning should strike the pipe.
