To answer your question, Yes I use #24 stranded venal insulated wire for my
secondary with only one problem. When the temperature dropped my windings
cracked open and the coil moved into bands, not evenly spaced. Now I pre-
coat the coil form with a solvent based lacquered before winding to make
shore the windings are well bonded to the PVC coil form.
    Looking at your coil picture I noticed your capacitor bottles appear to
be pre- coated like vapor deposition, How did you do that?
