Edison was correct. Everyone who has a car has a dc system to operate the
electrical devices. It is not very efficient but no one seems to care. Some
day all electrical power will come from DC distributed systems using a new
economical battery storage. For fuel you will use oil or natural gas, solar,
etc, the same as you are now using for heating and cooking. Present
electrical distribution systems have losses which are over 10% and require
expensive people to operate them. At present this is over half the cost of
your electric bill.

Tesla coils will be used in space. They can operate very well in a vacuum
where sparks can be easily avoided. Tesla coils can provide very high powers
at ultra high voltages more efficiently than any other electrical device.

And though I'm no fan of Edison's, I don't think the
article was quite accurate in assuming that Edison's
"DC system" meant "huge storage batteries surrounded
by fences".
