Re: Tektronix 6015 HV probe Calibration Help!

Hi,

Jon Tebbs has found the modern version at:

http://hot-streamer-dot-com/temp/P6015_Service.pdf

But I did some HV testing too...

In free air the probe breaks down at 24kV. Filled with mineral oil, it
arcs along the outside to the ground barrel at 34kV DC!! So one needs to
be pretty carful with these probes!!

I ran out of freon 114 to fill it :-(

So I am going to try mineral oil. The dielectric constant may be screwed
up, but I found a broken solder joint inside the probe too, so I must be
moving forward ;-)) The inside was also contaminated with some odd oil...

So, I would warn anyone using the Tek 6015 that these were designed in a
past era were 3X safety factors were a dream!! You probably want to
high-pot test them just like a pair of hot gloves "now-a-days"...

I need to study Jon's find and the original patent (2883619) to get her
going again ;-)) Hope Phred can get me the original manual too since I
think they changed things form version original to version A.

Cheers,

         Terry
