Voltage rating should be Erms (your xmfr voltage) x 3.  A 4 kV xmfr needs a
DC pulse rated cap like an MMC rated at 12 kV DC.

Stick with the MMCs for small coils and medium size coils.  The Geek Group
guys have done an excellent job of making these resources available at low
cost --- only $3 per cap.  They make a whole quarter per cap and use these
funds to support valuable educational work at their college.
