Hi guys,

quick question : would hooking a coil up to the ground strap the lightning
rod's connected to be a good, or a very bad idea?

Hi Shu,

In good weather it is a good choice. In case of a strike during a
storm you could end up "sharing the power". Your system is offering a
parallel secondary target. Although most of the lightning would go to
ground through the normal channel, even a very small fraction of a
lightning strike's inrush power could toast your coil.

If you use this ground, I suggest unclamp in stormy weather.
