For conventional spark gap, non-magnifier coils, I would think that you want
the secondary height (including topload, etc.) to be no less than 1/2-1/3
the longest spark (otherwise you'll get too many top to bottom strikes)..

10 kVA -> using the Freau equation inches = 1.7*sqrt(watts)

that's 170 inches..  (call it 15 feet)..

You'll want a 5-6 foot high secondary for that, which implies a diameter
from 8-16 inches (because you don't want it too tall and skinny)

Bear in mind that a 10kVA pole transformer can put out substantially more
for short times (maybe 20 kVA? )... 20 foot sparks..  (however, you've got
to have the juice to drive that 20 kVA.. 80+ amps at 240.. Most homes these
days have a 200 A service, but boy, will the meter spin at that kind of
load)
