Jim:

What was the JAVA TC predicted number of turns? And, what number of turns did you find work the best in your setup? In short, how many turns less did you have to tap down to get the best spark output?

Hi Dan,

I also would like to know the geometry if you have that info handy. Your paper is excellent! But, it seems only the toroid geometry is given. Everything else is electrical measurement. I see no reason for a DRSSTC to be any different regarding the coupled or uncoupled circuits. Anyway, it sure would be nice to have those dimensions if you get the time.

Thanks,
Bart

Dan,
the data you provided is very interesting. Especially the double resonance peaks which seem very pronounced in your data. I have been trying to work with a DRSSTC Terry's design) and find that the tuning point predicted by JAVATC is way off (it predicts more required primary turns than the coil likes to operate at). JAVATC is usually real close for other coils I have built (classic TC's).

It could be that my DRSSTC likes to have the lower primary inductance peak while JAVATC gives the higher inductance one?

Have you used JAVATC to predict the tuning point on your DRSSTC III? If not could you provide the geometry of the coil under test so that I can run the computation?

Thanks
Jim

Here is a rough draft of the tuning study I recently completed for my
DRSSTC III system. This goes for further verifying what is presently
understood as far as DRSSTCs and tuning and provides additional data.
