My favourite static gap is made from 3 pcs 1/2" by 1 1/2" solid
copper stock. 4" long. they are bolted to cooling fins, and ronded
nicely on the 4 ends that join to make it a 2-section gap.
This gap has produced up to 80" arcs to ground on a 4-mot coil.
Solid copper stock rules.
