I grew up on a farm and we also always used gasoline for solvent, metal
cleaning, etc.

After that hot day incident and the rapid flame propagation it literally
scared the shit out of me.  Never again especially since I know I can buy
kerosine for approx $5 per gal and its volatility is much less than
gasoline.  I never knew it could be so dangerous on a hot day.  Perhaps
less danger on a cooler day.

As they say "pays your money, takes your choices".
