Re: [TCML] Tesla Digest, Vol 146, Issue 2- search for 36 kV underground cable

Used to be common to see Anaconda in Indiana or Alcoa in Masena NY to carry
underground single conductor cable. Now try Furakawa or other website for
the cable. Local (large) electrical contractors often have scrap pieces up
to 50 or 75 feet long that is cut off from a huge roll after a new factory
installation. They can provide you with some options on buying the cable. OR
try local contractor distributors - they are usually willing to buy anything
over $500 or $1000.

Remember to properly terminate the hV cable with proper semiconductive
(Scotch #13) build-ups or more expensive cable terminators.

Be careful, these cables hold a large trapped charge for a considerable
period of time before they discharge (when not yet terminated). Keep the
shipping shunt on the cable until you are ready to install the termination
at the ends. A dielectric of PE or layered XL/PE is favorable over other
insulation types.
