Are you using a capacitor/diode circuit to generate your high
potential?  Also, does your lifter design resemble the geometry
of standard lifters, with a thin circular wire for one "capacitor
plate" and a thin perpendicularly aligned conducting sheet for
the other "capacitor plate?"
