Regarding tuning, I threw your stats into JavaTC real quick while reading
the emails, and JavaTC
spit out 20.24 turns. So, your pretty close to tune. I simply used your
stats and adjusted the
secondary spacing between turns until I hit 45 TPI as you stated, which
came to a spacing of 0.0043
inch. Most of the programs are pretty close to one another.

I guess I'm saying here that tuning appears not to be the contributor. I
think you have losses
occuring somewhere (sparkgap, cap, or wiring faults). Maybe it would help
to know some mechanical
features (materials used and how they are configured). We've all had small
sparks that we had to
convert to big ones by finding the losses and making changes.
