Tesla Coil - Original use

Has anyone attempted to build a 'coil' with the same objective as Tesla?
 
Forget the sparks, Tesla never wanted that.  Tune the system to 'Not Spark' and
drive the energy inward to the earth?
 
Would be interested in  anyone's experiments in this area.  Have not built a
'coil' yet, but would like to when I can get a large enough tract of land to
protect 'neighbors'.
 
just a patient observer for now. (avid reader of Tesla original documents)
