hi david, john
wow, i looked at ross's page and tube, very nice. the military tube i
have is very different in appearances for being the same in parameters.
for one thing the envelope is much smaller in diameter and very thick,
the plate is also different in that it has no fins and looks almost like
a 1.5" dia. 1/8" thick very light gray ceramic or something "test tube"?
i'm guessing that i better use as much air flow through the ceramic base
as i can and use a chimney of sorts to keep this puppy cool. after
looking at the massive filament transformer that ross uses i think i
have some more scrounging to do before first light. that's ok though, i
will build the "quick and dirty" coil that dr. duncan shows for some
experience before attempting to move up to this tube. i have some 813's
and 4cx800a's to try on the way.
thanks to everyone and i am enjoying the recent discussions on vttc's,
the knowledge is coming through now.
