Steve,

Sorry to split hairs, but both hysteresis and salient pole
motors are true sync motors.  The difference is that the
hysteresis types always lock in a different phase position,
whereas the salient pole types always lock in the same
phase position (for our purposes).  This is probably what
you meant to say anyway, but I'm clarifying for newbies.
