Re: [TCML] MOT wire question

As Dave pointed out, the voltage on those 3 turns is very low. I don't believe you will find very many uses for it. It is easily removed though, without any damage, and I always remove them. I just don't like the idea of having anything loose and unused on my transformers. On the other hand, I don't think leaving the winding there would hurt anything. If you don't want to remove them, just tape up the ends and put them out of the way.

Brian,

This is the filament wire for the magnetron. It supplied about 5 volts at a couple of amps to heat the magnetron filament.

You can ignore it for TC purposes. I suppose you could remove it, but you may damage the secondary in the process, so it's not worth fooling with it.

I've got a couple of MOTs and there is this 'middle' fabric coverered wire tucked in for a turn or two just under the secondary. Its what hooked into the MOC and magnetron.

I see that the output for the secondary is there but just unused.

What's the deal with this third wire? Can I, or should I, take that out if using the MOTs for a tesla coil?

Or how would it help me if i left it in there and hooked up to it?
