Hi Nick,

Very interesting idea. However, as a 22+ year professional firefighter
myself, I fear that the true practicality of such a device in the "real world"
of firefighting would be VERY LIMITED. This would NOT address
the tremendous amounts of radiant heat that has already reached
quantitites that would almost certainly reignite the combustible
fireload instantly in a "real world" fire situation, even if the flames
were "blown out". You must remove at least one of the the three
factors that cause and sustain combustion - fuel, heat, and oxygen.
The relative high specific heat of water makes it the obvious choice
for extinguishment byquick removal of the heat. The electric field
approach would have little effect on any of these three factors of
combustion.
