Bert, That article makes a lot of sense!

If I understand correctly the positive streams are not so conductive...which explains why you can interact with them and the formations themselves aren't really changing as a result.  It also explains why there is more of an electrical feeling at the farthest reaches of the streams than mid-stream....so the bulk of conductivity is where they are trying to further propagate themselves.  In this photo you can see the bright spots as my hand moves in...in person there are spheres or rods of light that move outward from the ball to your hand, moving in series like striations...I am guessing these are space charges much like those bright spots in actual sparks....  if you have insulated brass balls suspended in the regions sparks tend to occur between them if one is positioned farther from the center of the coil than the other...like the illustrations show.. very fascinating how they work, because the effect seems stronger away from the ball of the coil rather than closer...   this is all making sense (haha, at least I think!).  I should note there is a strong physiological and chemical effect of these space charges...they prickle the skin slightly and while they arent painful at all very strong blistering of the skin occurs when they are allowed to bombard it.  It is one reason I am certain that Kinraide erroneously claimed that X-ray burns were from nitric acid and not X-Rays...  if you wipe off your arm after experimenting there is often a dark residue characteristic of the stuff...Jeff

Beautiful shots!

On some of the photos the streamers seem to have bright sections

along them. Do you have any explanation for that?
