More than hinting, I promise doing it. I can get them done quite cheap
too.

I talked to my brother about the project, he imediately said: Use
instrumentation amplifiers. Analog devices has them for less than 5$
with below 1Mhz bandwidth.

About voltage rating:

It would be nice to be able to hook the probe across 2 phases on our
3-phase 400 Volt system.

One thing I am wondering: If we use the standard probes up front, will
they need to be high voltage rated too, or will ordinary 1x -10x probes
with low voltage rating doo?. I don`t know where and how the breakdown
happens in a probe.
