Hi all,

Finally finished the isolation transformer I've been working on.

Specs:

All wire #10 magnet wire
Transformer is under oil

6.2 KVA -at- 240 vac input
7.28 KVA -at- 280 vac input

Three primaries -at- 240-280 vac
Four secondary pairs ... Each pair = two 60-70 vac coils -at- 13 amps

Isolation:
Secondary to core and secondary to primary insulation:
2 sheets 1/16" polypropylene sheet from McMaster Carr
40 KVDC (calculated to 75KV at 600v per mil for the polypropylene used)

Core cross-section = 6.25 x 2.25 (14.0 sq in)

Tested with 23.4 amp load powering a kitchen oven. After 1/2 hour the
containment temperature was slightly over room temp.

Will be used to power a MOT bank.
